an ode to the denim cut-off

To the perfect white shirt companion, the hot day accomplice, the heavy knit antithesis.
the embodiment of the ease that should be summer dressing.

As far as I'm concerned, denim shorts are the only thing worth their sartorial salt come summertime.
They get a bad rep. Probably due to those who confuse said shorts with underwear, donning them at  every outside event, from the month of May. There remains a reason those frayed hems are dusted off season after season, however. The devoted summertime companions, as happy to cover a print bikini bottom, as to peep out from underneath tailored separates (see Chloe Sevigny above, in perhaps my favourite outfit ever).
The piece with the ability to make evening wear seem effortless and day wear actually so; the summertime uniform, that, in it's versatility, defies uniformity.
